LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil announced today that an incredible new act featuring world-renowned juggler Anthony Gatto will be added permanently to the 90-minute spectacle at Downtown Disney at the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Anthony Gatto comes to La Nouba from the tour of KOOZA by Cirque du Soleil and holds 11 world records in juggling. In the nine-minute act, Gatto juggles balls, hoops and clubs in unprecedented numbers at amazing speed with seemingly impossible accuracy.

Gatto joins the ranks of professional athletes, dancers, vocalists, musicians and comedic performers in the cast of 67 artists in the incredibly creative and dynamic gem La Nouba.

“Anthony is a true showman and we are pleased to have him join the dedicated and talented cast of La Nouba. The juggling act is fast-paced and will add to the energy on stage,” said Neil Boyd, company manager. “This act is an amazing new addition for our fans that come to see the show year after year.”

Time magazine calls Gatto, “simply the best juggler ever.”

The new act is entitled “cinq-a-sept” which means “five-to-seven,” generally known as “happy hour.” This fits well with the meaning of La Nouba – “to party” or “live it up.”

This new act replaces the chair balancing act in the show.

Star Wars Weekends is an annual special event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park that celebrates the epic space-fantasy Star Wars Saga and the new animated television series The Clone Wars. Join Jedi Masters, Sith Lords and Star Wars celebrities for special shows, presentations and memorabilia.  Fans of the Star Wars universe don’t have to travel to “a galaxy far, far away” to come face to face with droids, alien creatures and many of their favorite Star Wars characters.  Younglings can hone their lightsaber skills and prepare to do battle with Darth Vader himself at the Jedi Training Academy. Prove yourself the master of trivia in contests with prize giveaways. Board a runaway Starspeeder on the Star Tours attraction, or stare in awe as visitors from Naboo, Endor and every planet between pass by in a motorcade.  In addition to all of the entertainment, there are plenty of conversations, autograph sessions and motorcades with the celebrities and creators of the Star Wars galaxy.  Hunting for a special collectible bounty? Grab a Disney’s FASTPASS ticket to ensure your place in line for celebrity autographs, or find special limited-edition merchandise to add to your collection at the Tatooine Traders store and other vendors around the Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park.  Each day ends with the Hyperspace Hoopla! show, where many favorites let loose with music, comedy, dancing and more.  With Ewoks, Wookiees, Stormtroopers, Jawas and more invading Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park, young Padawan Learners and their parents would be wise to have their cameras ready. Star Wars Weekends take place only once a year, so check back for the next event dates and plan your trip early. Do. Or do not. There is no try!  Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park admission is required. Star Wars Weekends events are included with admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. Availability is limited for some events. Events may be cancelled at any time.

This year, Disney Parks celebrates the spirit of volunteer service with a simple proposition: “Give a Day, Get a Disney Day.”

Disney hopes to inspire 1 million people to volunteer in their communities through this first-of-its-kind program that offers those who perform volunteer service for a participating organization a free one-day admission ticket to a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park.  In the past year, guests have been celebrating all sorts of special moments in their lives at Disney parks – from birthdays and anniversaries to reunions and graduations – as part of the “What Will You Celebrate?” campaign.  Now, Disney is celebrating the contributions people make when they volunteer, said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.  “Volunteering weaves together the fabric of a community and reinforces the best of who we are,” Staggs said.  “With ‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day,’ we hope to inspire a million people to engage in community volunteerism, and we’re well on our way to that goal.”  To enable people to sign up for an eligible volunteer project, Disney is working with HandsOn Network, the nation’s largest volunteer network.  Part of Points of Light Institute, HandsOn Network has 250 on-the-ground volunteer action centers across the country and connects volunteers to more than 70,000 nonprofit agencies that need their help.

“Wherever we live, our communities need our hands-on help to thrive,” said Michelle Nunn, CEO of Points of Light Institute.  “This unprecedented effort by Disney Parks to help mobilize
1 million volunteers into action has created incredible volunteer opportunities for people to get involved and for nonprofits who are looking for volunteers. ‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day’ has already reached hundreds of thousands of people of all ages – and is instilling the volunteer spirit in a new generation.”  Bob Iger, president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, said, “‘Give a Day, Get a Disney Day’ fits perfectly with our long history of supporting and participating in volunteer efforts.  It’s a great way to honor guests who are making a positive contribution to their communities.”  Guests can go to www.DisneyParks.com for the United States and Puerto Rico or www.DisneyParks.ca for Canada to search for volunteer opportunities available in those areas through HandsOn Network and sign up for a day of volunteer service.

Give a Day, Get a Disney Day details:

Must pre-register and sign up for eligible volunteer opportunity at disneyparks.com.  Ticket quantities for this program are limited. Must be at least age 6 to participate. Other terms and conditions apply.  For details, see disneyparks.com in the United States and Puerto Rico. In Canada, see disneyparks.ca.

About HandsOn Network

The volunteer-focused arm of Points of Light Institute, HandsOn Network is the largest volunteer network in the nation and includes more than 250 HandsOn Action Centers that reach more than 83 percent of the nation’s population and extend to 10 countries.  HandsOn includes a powerful network of more than 70,000 corporate, faith and nonprofit organizations that are answering the call to serve and creating scaled impact.  In 2008, the network delivered approximately 30 million hours of volunteer service.
